Quinn's Auction Galleries is proud to present our Judaica and Metalwork Auction from the collection of Allan Fogel. The auction features a wide variety of Judaica such as art, sheet music, menorahs, and lamps. As well as a selection of pieces from two important 20th century metalworkers, Hugo Berger and Serge Nekrassoff.
Hugo Berger was a German metalworker operating in the Early 20th century. His works are exemplary of the Arts and Crafts Movement aesthetic incorporating hand wrought textures in brass, copper, and iron with traditional designs. He founded Goberg Metalworks and built his first factory in Schmalkalden, Germany. His renown worldwide would grow as retailers in Europe carried his works, such as Liberty and Co. of London and Metz and Co. of Amsterdam.
Serge S. Nekrassoff (1895-1985) was a Russian-American metal worker operating in the United States from 1925 to 1979. Neckrosoff followed in the footsteps of the previous Arts and Crafts Movement with hand wrought craftsmanship but with an eye to the everyday. The items in this auction show the sheer scope of his designs, from utilitarian pewter to the colorful use of enamel on copper, best seen in his plates that feature a wide variety of birds and sea creatures.
